Meet Owen Robinson, a 23-year-old shooter from Brighton, Michigan, who’s making serious waves in the clay target world. A familiar face at Detroit Gun Club, his home club, Owen is quickly becoming a standout competitor as he enters his third competitive shooting season.
Introduced to the sport by his grandfather and guided into the MSCA and NSCA circuits by friend Joe Bowles, Owen has been on a fast track of success. He’s currently soaring through AA class, recently taking AA1 honors at his last two tournaments — a clear sign he won’t be in that class much longer.
One of his proudest achievements to date is earning Runner-Up in A Class at the Michigan State Championship last year. He also dominated A Class by taking High Overall (HOA) in Super Sporting, FITASC, and 5-Stand.
Owen is always accompanied by his biggest supporter, Katie, and balances his passion for shooting with his studies — he's currently in college pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. He shoots a K-80 Sporting, wears Pilla glasses, a barepelt vest, and relies exclusively on Winchester AA ammunition.
Outside of shooting, Owen is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing, whether it's casting lines on the Great Lakes or fly fishing in local streams.
His current goal? To break into the Top 10 at this year’s Michigan State Championship at Grand Blanc Huntsman Club. He's also passionate about seeing the sport grow in Michigan, encouraging new faces to get involved and keep the community thriving.
Congratulations, Owen, on an incredible start to the season — we’re excited to see where your talent and dedication will take you next!
Meet Jamie Couch— Shooter, Outdoorsman, and Family Man
I’m Jamie Couch, and I’ll be turning 63 soon. My wife Sheila and I are proud parents to three grown daughters and grandparents to three wonderful grandkids. I own a financial services firm in downtown Rochester and enjoy splitting my time between our 10-acre home in Leonard, Michigan, and our beautiful winter place in Venice, Florida.
I’m a lifelong outdoorsman who loves hunting just about everything and fishing with my grandson. My shooting journey started in the mid-1990s with competitive “club” skeet, and I’ve only gotten more passionate over the years.
In recent years, I started participating in charity sporting clays events—and winning became a fun habit! While in Sarasota in 2023, I was encouraged to register with the NSCA and shot my first registered event on March 11, 2023. I was hooked instantly.
I started in E class and have worked my way up to A. During the winter, I practice regularly at Sarasota and Bermont. Here in Michigan, I shoot skeet and 5-stand 3–4 times a week at North Macomb Sportsmen’s Club. I also shoot sporting clays at The Huntsman Hunt Club and Hunters Creek Club.
I mainly shoot a K-80 32” and rotate between factory extended chokes and Muellers—usually IC and LM. My favorite targets? Big, long, deep crossers. Least favorite? The ones I flinch on—usually those deceptively slow “easy” ones right in front of me.
No superstitions here—but staying hydrated and bringing energy bars helps keep me sharp during a 100-bird shoot.
